Instead of thinking about who you are, directly investigate the sense of "I" right now. Ask "Who is thinking/worrying/creating this?"

Don't answer with concepts, actually look for who's there.

Keep looking until you realise you can't find a separate "someone" doing the experiencing. Rest your attention on the bare feeling of "I am" and let every story, label, and identity drop away.

What remains isn't a person or entity, it's simple, thoughtless being itself.

There are two completely different meanings of "I":

(1) the personal self—your history, thoughts, the one who suffers and seeks, and

(2) the bare fact of being-aware before any story begins.

The spiritual path moves from "I do things" (ego), through "awareness acts through me" (spiritual ego), to "things happen, no doer," until even that framework dissolves.

When you investigate who's witnessing your experience, you eventually discover there's no findable witness, just witnessing happening, awareness being aware, with no separate entity behind it. This isn't a philosophical conclusion but a direct recognition available right now.
